Our Transportable Antarctic Research Platform (TARP-01) deployed on King George Island earlier 2013.
In close cooperation with the Chilean Antarctic Institute (INACH), we carried out two expeditions (in March and October) at Escudero Station on King George Island (“Base Profesor Julio Escudero”, 62°12’S; 58°57’W) aimed at deploying our first Transportable Antarctic Research Platform (TARP-01), and setting up a dual-band UV radiometer. The TARP deployment required shipping roughly 800 Kg of equipment and involved a team of 3 researchers closely supported by INACH personnel.
The TARP is meant to support our ground-based measurements of the UV irradiance in the area.
