Sampling Snow from Putre (18°S) to Cajón del Maipo (33°S)
Led by Steven Neshyba (University of Puget Sound, PS), and Raul R. Cordero and Penny Rowe (Universidad de Santiago, USACH), and with the expert guidance of Steve Warren (University of Washington, UW), an interdisciplinary team conducted a campaign sampling the Black Carbon (BC) and dust content in the snow across a north-south transect of the Chilean Andes (from Putre to Cajon del Maipo). The campaign will deliver a map of the BC content in the Andean cryosphere, highlighting impacted zones (useful for further studies on the effects of BC on glacier melting).
