Union Glacier 2015

Third Campaign at Union Glacier Camp
Aimed at studying the reflectivity of the Antarctic snow (i.e. the albedo), a team of researchers of the University of Santiago (USACH) carried out an intercomparison campaign that involved three spectral albedometers. These instruments allowed ground-based measurements of the surface reflectivity at wavelengths that range from the UV to the near IR. The campaign was conducted at Union Glacier Camp (79° 46’ S; 82° 52’ W), located in the southern Ellsworth Mountains on the broad expanse of Union Glacier; 3,030 km from the southern tip of Chile and just about 1,000 km from the South Pole.
